Fall 2009 Etsy Baby Shower

I came across the Etsy baby shower last Spring… It is a tradition started by June from ficklefaerie a while back… Generous Etsy shop owners donate gifts and ship them for free to Etsy moms who have recently given birth or are due soon. This time around I have the pleasure of working with Jessica from BuggaLove to organize the baby shower. 28 Etsy moms have been matched up with 91 shops and will be receiving four gifts each! This coming week Jessica and I will be blogging about the generous shops who will be sending wonderful handmade baby items to several very lucky Etsy moms. Yay for facebook fanpage usernames and shorter URLs!

I just got my facebook fanpage URL! Now the link to my facebook fanpage is nice and short... no extra long URLs with a whole of extra numbers! :)

Facebook had put a requirement of a minimum of 100 fans for fanpages to get a username, but I found out from the Etsy forums that many people have been able to get their usernames with without having 100 fans. Neither of my fanpages have 100 fans but I was able to get a username for both.

To get a username for you fanpage, use this link: http://www.facebook.com/username/

At first people in the forums were thinking it was just a glitch that facebook was allowing them to get usernames without having 100 fans but I have read that facebook has lowered their requirement from 100 fans to 25 fans... This makes more sense (both pages have more than 25 fans).

It is always great to hear back from someone after they have received their order... It is one the reasons why I really enjoy what I do- I love making a one-of-a-kind custom memento, and to hear back about how wonderful the item is or how it matches their child's room perfectly is the icing on top with a cherry! :)

I recently completed two growth charts for someone. She ordered one for her daughter and one for her friend's daughter. Literally about 5 minutes ago I received a message from her telling me how impressed she was with the growth charts and what a wonderful gift it made for her and her friend's daughter. I was so touched by her genuine message that I immediately wanted to share this story on my blog. :)

New facebook fanpage for our Etsy ISOT ladies team

I am part of a group of highly talented Turkish ladies who make and sell a variety of handmade items on Etsy. ISOT Ladies is an active group on Etsy, we are all supportive of one another and enjoy each other's company in the forums. We recently started a ISOT Ladies fanpage on facebook! My growth chart *almost* made it to the front page of Etsy

My growth chart was chosen as an alternate by the Etsy admin for the front page of Etsy today at 11:00 am (EST). :) So my growth chart didn't actually make it to the front page (I think the alternates only make it on the list if one of the original 12 sells) but it was still a great feeling that the Etsy administration noticed my work and chose to feature it even as an alternate.

I was featured on the front page before though! Let me tell you how exciting it was! :) I missed it, but friends told me about it and I quickly found it though the craftcult archive. The same growth chart was selected to be in a fellow etsian's treasury (mujoyas) and the Etsy admin promoted it to the front page! YAY!
